Our Masjid Libraries

If l am asked what is the most importand place of a masjid l would say LIBRARY. Libraries prevent monopolization of knowledge. Al Noor Islamic Center has a library which has different study places where meet different style of studing of people. For example l like to study by windows not cubicles. In this library there are regular chairs and tables but also confortable armchairs by the windows too. Other important aspect of the library is windows dividers which allow the people to see the masjid and jamaat. I wish we have bigger libraries which have more different study places, kids section, tea or coffee, magazines, newspaper, WiFi ...etc. Our masjids libraries should ecourage our kids or brothers, including CHACHA:) and sisters to do their homeworks and research in the masjids. Serving food at every Isha Salah

Omar Ibn Elkhattab Mosque is beautiful mosque and has expansion project. Brother Munir is the backbone of the masjid. After Isha Salah l saw fresh black tea with mint, lasagna and green beans. I asked brothers what is the reason for having dinner (l thought it might be the month of Muharram) They said that there is dinner almost everyday in the masjid. Serving tea or food change and enrich the environment of masjids. I think it's a good idea and encouragement for us to offer breakfast after Fajr Salah two times a week in our masjids. I have seen many masjids which offer food or tea not only during ramadan but other times have more attachment, muhabbat in the masjids. With brother Munir- October 21, 2015 Columbus-OHIO

 

Better Masjids

Masjids are heart of muslims. Therefore we should take care of our masjids like we take care of our hearts. More knowledge centric and multifunctional masjids allow muslims to be knowledgeable and responsible person of society. During my visits to masjids l usually ask myself what is strength of a masjid? How do kids, teenagers and young brothers and sisters prefer to come to a masjid during day or when they have a free time? Which features of a masjid make our brothers and sisters to spend more time in a masjid? Do our masjids fullfill most needs of muslims and their neighbors? How can we make our masjids multifunctional which provide different servises and places for us?
There are many questions like these which are asked by many brothers and sisters. During my visits to masjids l try to share unique aspects of each masjids which enrich our life.
